A lot of folks have been asking me to post some production art from Young Justice, but even though our show has premiered I'm still not sure how much of my art I'm allowed to share here.
Lets start out relatively small, with a few designs here and there, and no big reveals...
This is Blockbuster, one of the main villains from our series premiere. He was a lot of fun to design, we decided it wouldn't be a huge tragedy to depart from the original version in the comics, who is pretty similar to the Hulk in a lot of ways.
My first pass was very "Hulk like", but inspired by a conversation I had with Brandon about a line of dialogue Greg wrote, we quickly end up with the final design.
Blockbuster and Young Justice is trademark and copyright of DC comics and WB animation.
but what program did you use for the digital aspect of this piece?
I liked how he had the shedded skin covering his face, and best of all, the armor plated skin, which I surmise adds extra protection against the force of super powered blows you'd expect from heroes like Superman or Wonder Woman, etc
I hope he makes more appearances on the show and becomes a recurring menace, and that DC comics use his design or something similar someday.
P.S. I was wondering if I could ask...
1) are the red lines on his body supposed to be exposed muscles?
2) Why did Blockbuster work for Icicle Senior in the episode "Terrors?" I thought he was an out of control rampaging beast who couldn't understand orders?
